True law & order serves and protects! Thats who my Jesus is.
Now, some of you are out here-believers- screaming nonsense, regurgitating misinformed ideals, worshipping (insert your own idol here) or better yet here’s a “starter pack” list:
nationalism,
self-serving Christianity,
false humility,
misplaced pride,
ungodly religion and practices,
disguised as law&order and none of it is actually serving and protecting.
Our Jesus and His rules are always set up to Serve and Protect.
Why? Because his Law & Order points us back to Himself. A self-sacrificing, grace-giving, mercy-lavishing loving God.
When the oppressed, the foreigner, stranger, widow, single mom, orphan cries out,
God serves Justice, law & Order wrapped in grace.
The Gospel is about humility & sacrifice
NOT
comfort & privilege.
So for my truth bent persons, those with conviction:
We must have order and laws because this practice allows for the standard of rightness and holiness to be achieved. Our God is Holy and calls us to be holy. The saints who have more of a truth oriented bent need not be silenced but encouraged to lean into grace so that Law & Order do not become authoritarian, dictatorial, self serving and in the end harmful and detrimental. The pharisees were staunch rule followers with no love shown. No one wins in these conditions and God is not Glorified.
For my grace bent people, those with compassion:
My thread remains the same but the application is the other side of the tension.
Watch that you don’t become so service or grace driven that you forget there is order, laws and rules to follow. Liberality and at times the “do whatever you want” worldview hides under the guise of “freedom for all” but can lead to self serving practices, anarchy, easy believe-ism, idol worship and in the end no one wins and Jesus is not glorified. For my brothers and sisters who are grace driven lean into some truth.
